Dike wardens are employees of water boards or citizens who voluntarily check during high water whether the flood defenses are functioning properly and whether there are any cracks or other damages. All dike wardens receive training to carry out the inspections effectively. This training can be organized either by the waterboard itself or by World Water Academy.
