Wastewater Treatment Sampling Technician
Learning targets
Taking, transporting, and storing samples in wastewater treatment plants is not something to be done lightly. It requires the correct handling and precision. What should you pay attention to so that these samples can be used to control and manage the treatment process? And how can the samples also be used to determine charges?
In this course, Wastewater Treatment Sampling Technician, you will learn how to take samples of wastewater and activated sludge in accordance with NEN 6600-1. Attention is paid to quality control, including the calibration of measuring equipment. The most common determinations, such as the sludge volume index, COD, and the concentrations of ammonium and phosphate, are taught according to current standards. The course also covers the preservation, packaging, and transport of samples in accordance with NEN-EN-ISO 5667-3.
Do you want to become a fully qualified Wastewater Treatment Sampling Technician? Then this course is for you!
The following topics are covered:
- properties of (waste) substances; types of samples
- sampling protocols according to NEN 6600-1
- calibration of equipment
- most commonly used sampling techniques
- preservation of samples according to NEN-EN-ISO 5667-3
- determining the sludge volume index according to NEN 6624
- determining COD, ammonium, and phosphate levels
Upon completion of this course, you will have the following knowledge & skills:
- types of samples, protocols, preservation, and equipment
- properly taking wastewater samples
