Learning targets

Preventing Legionella in priority institutions, such as hospitals and care facilities, requires expertise in inspecting drinking water installations. This also applies to verifying the implementation of control measures at these locations. What knowledge and skills are needed for this task?

In the Masterclass Legionella, we cover the regulations outlined in the Legionella Prevention Regulations. Inspections of (and management of) drinking water installations are carried out by water companies and follow the same standardized procedure across the Netherlands. The Platform for Control and Enforcement (PCH), in collaboration with the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT), has established guidelines for this: the Inspection Directive Work Instruction.

By the end of this masterclass, you will understand how to link risk analysis, management plans, logbooks, and sampling, and how to apply this knowledge when assessing a drinking water installation in a priority institution.

The following topics will be covered:

  • risk analysis
  • management plan
  • logbook
  • sampling
  • work instruction inspection directive (control protocol extra)

Upon completion of this course, you will have gained the following knowledge and skills:

  • assessing drinking water installations at priority institutions based on the control protocol extra of the inspection directive work instruction.
