Management and Maintenance of Flood Defenses
Learning targets
The management and maintenance of flood defenses are increasingly being planned and carried out based on risk assessments. Maintenance and management staff play a significant role in risk-based operations and data collection. Proper management and maintenance are crucial for maintaining strong dikes. Increasingly, specific goals are being set for management and maintenance. But how do you measure whether these goals are achieved? Furthermore, multi-year maintenance plans are becoming more common. What role do management and maintenance staff play in these plans? This course addresses all these topics.
The following topics will be covered:
- duty of care
- guidelines for risk-based management and maintenance
- risk-based operations: pros and cons
- data management
- different types of maintenance
After completing this course, you will have:
- insight into the risks related to your flood defense
- understanding of the importance of proper data management
- the ability to apply risk-based operations
Program
Day 1: Risk-Based Operations
- guidelines for risk-based operations
- case studies in risk-based operations
