From Damage Assessment to Repair
Learning targets
After the visual inspection of a water barrier, the processes of diagnosis, prognosis, and operationalization follow. These processes are outlined in the inspection plan of the water boards.
In this course, you will gain insights into these steps. What measures can be taken for a specific type of damage? How do you monitor the development of damage? When does damage need to be repaired? We will link the damage types to various failure and collapse mechanisms. By the end of the course, you will be able to explain the diagnosis and prognosis for a wide range of damage types and recommend appropriate repair measures. You will also understand which damage types require special attention.
The following topics will be covered:
- digigids, duty of care, and the inspection plan
- diagnosing and forecasting damage patterns
- damage types in relation to failure and collapse mechanisms
- determining (management) measures for common damage types
After completing this course, you will have:
- knowledge of the components of the inspection plan
- the ability to explain the diagnosis and prognosis for damage patterns
- the ability to propose repair measures
- the ability to prioritize damage repair efforts
